David L. Eigen
Co Manager
In 2015, David co-founded P5 Health Ventures to fulfill a twenty year old vision of consumer-driven personalized healthcare. In 1999, David founded Post Road Capital Management (PRCM), an asset management firm that invests in public equities, private companies and alternative assets. David has significant experience in the healthcare, consumer, real estate, retail, insurance, and information technology industries. He has spent years working with management teams focusing on capital allocation and brand management. From 2001 to 2009 in the Post Road Value Fund, David generated a 10% annualized return during a period when the S&P 500 generated negative returns; cumulatively outperforming the S&P 500 by over 110% and the Russell 2000 by over 80%. From 2005 until 2015, he also managed the Post Road Focused Fund and its successor entity, the PRy3 Fund. From July 2009 until June 2011, David worked at Iridian Asset Management, a long-only institutional asset management firm, where he was a managing director and co-portfolio manager with direct supervision over $7.5 billion in assets. In 1997, David started VitaSave, one of the first online marketplaces for discounted vitamin and food supplements and related materials. VitaSave was a pivot from the original project, an online integrative health forum for patients and practitioners dedicated to finding medical best practices. It was the unclear legal environment that led to the pivot. In late 1998, David sold VitaSave to a competitor and turned his focus to building PRCM. David holds a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a J.D. from Benjamin Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University. He sits on the board of the Stillwater Insurance Company, a property and casualty insurer. He lives in Westport, CT with his wife and three sons. He enjoys coaching kids, qigong, trail running, crossfit, tennis, basketball, skiing and lacrosse. He co-manages a foundation dedicated to health and human services and is active in other charitable endeavors.

Daniel Beiting, PH.D.
Advisor
Dr. Beiting completed his Ph.D. in Immunology at Cornell University, where his studies helped to elucidate the molecular mechanisms that regulate chronic inflammation. Following his Ph.D., he completed postdoctoral training at the University of Pennsylvania, where he used cutting-edge genomic approaches and data mining to understand interactions between infectious diseases and the immune system – work supported by a National Research Service Award from the National Institutes of Health. He is currently a Research Assistant Professor in Pathobiology at UPenn’s School of Veterinary Medicine where he continues to work at the intersection of immunology, microbiology and genomics, and helped to establish and direct the Center for Host-Microbial Interactions (CHMI). Broadly speaking, CHMI’s mission is to better understand and treat disease through the study of microbes and microbial communities. Through CHMI, he helps to fund research, train scientists, and forge collaborations within the scientific community at UPenn to advance research on diseases relevant to both human and animal health. Dr. Beiting has authored 30 peer-reviewed publications, and his current research examines how the ‘microbiome’ – a complex ecosystem of microbes that lives in around around us all – can be used to better understand, diagnose and treat disease.

After graduating from Fresno State University and graduating from Palmer Chiropractic College -West in 1992, Dr. Clay founded Samaritan Health Center, a multi-disciplinary health center, which incorporated Chiropractic, Nutrition, Chinese medicine, Acupuncture, Naturopathic medicine, Classical and German homeopathic medicine, Qigong, Tai chi, Yoga and meditation. Dr. Clay held and maintained a CCN and DACBN in Nutrition for 20 years and continues to study and practice integrated and functional medicine. She lives with her husband and three children in Silicon Valley and is actively involved in educating her patients and the public about the nutritional needs of children and adults surviving cancer among other chronic ailments. Unlike many Western medical practitioners, she works to support each patient’s systems and has used this philosophy to successfully treat numerous patients over more than 20 years. In 2004, Dr Clay supported her three-year-old son through three years of chemotherapy at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital after a diagnosis of leukemia. Using her knowledge of nutrition and integrated medicine, her son was able to avoid opportunistic infections, unscheduled hospital stays, unscheduled lapses in treatment, hair loss, weight loss and secondary toxicity issues. He is currently a happy, healthy high school sophomore. Dr. Clay plays an important role in our work in integrative medicine by providing unique knowledge from her regular practice. It differs in its style and greater efficacy than traditional with patients in a more supportive, less invasive practice of medicine.
